Meaningful experiences

It has been such a fulfilling experience to partake in these memorable events throughout my time at FIU. Being part of the E-board of the Chinese club has taught me compassion, leadership, and teamwork. One of the main events we did last year was the Chinese new year festival that was held in the GC ballrooms. It was a great time, many people from different places came together to showcase their talent and celebrate the new year. Another rewarding experience was volunteering at the Asian culture festival at the fruit & spice park this past spring. It was really fun! We did Chinese calligraphy and had children try it out, and also taught them a mini geography lesson. Overall, it increased my passion to teach the younger generation about cultures outside of their own, and grow their global awareness.
